South Africa hosts the BRICS Political Parties Dialogue in July

JOHANNESBURG, June 24 (IANS) South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) said political parties from the BRICS countries will meet next month to discuss how to boost the BRICS mechanism, economic recovery and conflict resolution.

The ANC said on Friday in a statement that the dialogue will be held in Johannesburg on July 18-20 to discuss issues of mutual interest and will be attended by party leaders and representatives of political parties around the world.

“The dialogue of political parties in the 2023 BRICS group will deliberate on reforming and strengthening mechanisms for inclusive multilateralism, and resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiations. They will discuss ways and means to strengthen BRICS, including the New Development Bank,” the African National Congress added, quoting Xinhua news agency. And alternative international payment systems and contribute to setting standards for the expansion of BRICS and fair development relations with Africa.

“It is envisaged that the BRICS Plus political party dialogue will lead to focused discussions and practical strategies and tactics developed for implementation. We must strengthen bipartisan and multiparty relations on our continent to turn consensus into concrete action.”

BRICS is an acronym for five emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
